Facts about Aragón

Aragón: Wild Nature, History and Ancestral Traditions
Aragón is a land of contrasts; a place where the grandeur of history merges with the immensity of nature. Here, the mountains of the Pyrenees rise majestically, medieval castles tell stories of knights and kings, and tradition is alive in every corner.
Zaragoza, its capital, is the vibrant heart of the community. On the banks of the river Ebro, the Basilica del Pilar stands as one of the most iconic temples in Spain; its silhouette, reflected in the water at sunset, leaves an unforgettable image. The Aljafería, a palace of Islamic origin converted into a Mudejar jewel, is a reminder of the region's splendid past. And in every street, the mixture of past and present creates a unique atmosphere.
But Aragón cannot be understood without its landscapes. In the north, the Pyrenees hide valleys of overwhelming beauty: the Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park is a paradise for hikers and nature lovers; its waterfalls, canyons and forests seem to be taken from a fairy tale. Further south, the geology draws whimsical formations in the region of Maestrazgo or in the Mallos de Riglos, a paradise for climbers. And in the steppes of Monegros, the arid and lonely landscape transports you to another world.
Aragón is also a land of history and legends. Teruel, with its Mudejar art declared World Heritage, is a city where time seems to have stopped; the story of the Lovers of Teruel continues to move those who hear it. Albarracín, considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, surprises with its medieval wall and its reddish houses.
Aragón ese cuisine is hearty and authentic. Roast lamb is the star dish; game stews and migas a la pastora (breadcrumbs with lamb) are comforting on cold days. And for those with a sweet tooth, Calanda peaches and Zaragoza's adoquines (almond biscuits) are an irresistible pleasure.
The festivals in Aragón are lived with intensity. Holy Week in Zaragoza is one of the most impressive in the country; the celebration of the Pilar in October fills the city with devotion and joy. And in small villages, the jotas resonate strongly, recalling the essence of this land proud of its roots.
Aragón is history, adventure and authenticity. A place where tradition is still alive and nature amazes at every turn.
